Visitors:
A few visitors on this Northerly winded day! This included a couple down
from Milton, who we had a nice discussion with about raptors, and bird
migration as a whole.
Weather:
North-westerly winds all day today were a nice change! Fairly clouded
through most of the day made to spotting a little easier.
Raptor Observations:
A good raptor flight today! Good numbers of Turkey Vultures, Bald Eagles,
Red-shouldered and Red-tailed Hawks, with 3 Broad-winged Hawks getting late
mixed in. Majority of the Bald Eagles were between 3pm and 4pm local time,
when there was a group of 6 all together at the same time, and several
groups of 2 migrating together. Most of the Red-shouldered Hawks came in
the morning, and many of the Red-tailed Hawks were high up in the clouds
around 2:30pm local time.
Non-raptor Observations:
Down to 4,900 Blue Jays today. One Blue-grey Gnatcatcher was seen and heard
later in the day, and a single Eastern Bluebird was seen migrating in the
morning. A few more diving ducks were observed today, which included both
Scaup, Redheads, and Ring-necked Ducks, along with the regular dabbling
ducks. For the full eBird checklist, go to
http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S32024076 One Monarch seen today.
Predictions:
Sunny skies, with very light N winds are predicted for the morning, but
they should switch to the S by the afternoon.
