Early afternoon was mostly cloudy and breezy with a few gusts of wind. The afternoon gradually became clearer, with a pleasant end to the day. Winds were from the W and SW. Raptor Observations: Migration was relatively light today, with a small kettle of Turkey Vultures and a handful of Sharp-shinned Hawks, a couple of Northern Harriers, and a single Kestrel, Bald Eagle, and Red-tailed Hawk. Non-raptor Observations: A couple of large rafts of Double-crested Cormorants could be seen on the lake near the horizon, one of which approximately 280 birds. 19 Pied-billed Grebes were also counted on the lake, and we had a nice flyover of 5 American Wigeon. Predictions: Tomorrow's weather will be pleasant - sunny with a high of 69F. Winds will be from the SW - somewhat heavier at 15-25 mph. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Detroit River Hawk Watch ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
