This morning I confirmed my suspicion of a male bobolink at the corner of 20th
Sideroad and 5th Line Nassagaweya as he was sitting nicely on the electric
lines. There was also an eastern meadowlark on top of a tree eyeing the same
field. What is surprising to me is that this is NOT a big field by any stretch
but I know the farmer doesn't plow it - he just takes hay off. I talked to him
earlier in the week and he says there are bobolinks in the field behind his
house (this field you can't see from the road). He plans to take the hay off
this week so we'll see if he delays it a bit for nesting.

I was told that bobolinks don't nest within about 50 meters of the edge of the
fields - they are in the center so I relayed that info too.

Directions: north on Guelph Line (west of urban Milton) off 401 to 20th SR
which is the road past the stoplight at the Petrocan station. Turn right. Go to
the second road (5th Line) and the field is on the right. There are no fences.
