Yesterday afternoon I was returning from Whimbrel Point, disappointed
having seen no Whimbrels and checked the pool where the LEBI was last
year (or 2 years ago?). There it was. Wayne Renaud arrived shortly
thereafter and took great pictures. One is at this eBird list:
http://ebird.org/ebird/canada/view/checklist?subID=S29953237
Please remember that this is a rare and threatened bird in Ontario and
should be treated accordingly - a minimum of disturbance.
Col Sam Smith Park is at the foot of Kipling Avenue in western Toronto.
From the southernmost parking lot walk on the main southbound path most
of the way to the lake. Just before it branches left to Whimbrel Point
and right to the east-west branch a smaller path extends to the right.
Take that path - the bird was in the first pool to the right. It was
heard again early this morning.
