Ontbird readers
The sender of a recent report from the Ottawa region received rude and
condescending responses to their report. Ontbirds guidelines
specifically address responding to posts. It should be a basic
assumption that anyone post sincerely believes their sighting to be good
and valid. While subscribers are entitled to their opinion about the
validity of a post, they are not entitled to attack the sender. If
Ontbirds receives the identity of a self-appointed vigilante, that
person will be barred from posting to Ontbirds. There is no place for
vigilantes on Ontbirds. If you have concerns about an Ontbirds post
contact me. As Ontbirds coordinator it is my responsibility to see that
the service is properly maintained as a consistent and level vehicle for
disseminating bird information across the province.
Ontbird guidelines can be read online at the Ontario Field
Ornithologists website. A link to the specific webpage is proved at the
bottom of this and every post sent by Ontbirds.
