Normal for woodcock to be at Pressqu'ile, of course, at this time of year, but this one flushed on the path to Owen Point, to the north of the beach side path, and went just few a few meters, so worth being alert to if you visit the point.
Also, in the tallest white cedars back of the store on the way from the store parking lot to the beach, a charming display of Golden-crowned Kinglets fly-catching. The would sally out, flutter about (whatever they were after was not low enough for me to see, let alone identify) and then fly to a different perch from whence they started (unlike Tyrant Flycatchers they didn't go back to the original perch, and when not flycatching, were gleaning in regular kinglet-fashion). A couple of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, and various common spp but no shorebirds on the beach visible from viewing area around 3:00 p.m. Barry Kent MacKay Bird Artist, Illustrator Studio: (905)-472-9731 http://www.barrykentmackay.ca [email protected] Markham, Ontario, Canada _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
