Just returned from the Bruce St. heron rookery/swamp at the south end of
Keswick in northern York Region. Yesterday there were 18 Great Blue Herons
still not occupying nests, but shortly after 5 p.m. today, counted 71 on nests
and some others just flying around, so minimum count of 80 Great Blue Herons.
Female Bald Eagle also continues to sit on the eagle nest in their midst. To
get there, drive up Leslie St. or Hwy 404 to its northern terminus, drive west
on Ravenshoe Rd. Bruce St. is about 1 km west of Leslie St., running north to a
dead end. The swamp/rookery is on the west side of Bruce St.
