Good morning all, Yesterday, in the late afternoon, Brian Pfrimmer and Ray Laughlen discovered a Lark Sparrow at the Haliburton Landfill. The bird was feeding in the weeds along the roadside and was oblivious to nearby passing cars. It spent most of its time along the E side of the road, from the entrance of the dump north toward the lane at the bend in the road.
I will post an update if the bird is relocated today. Good birding, Ed Poropat Haliburton, ON Directions: Haliburton Landfill is located on Industrial Park Rd., off Cty Rd 21, immediately W of Haliburton Village and Head Lake. We have established an excellent relationship over the years with the good folks running the dump. This can be a relatively busy road so please be thoughtful, and park somewhere where traffic is not impeded in the slightest way....I would suggest near the laneway at the bend in the road and as far on the shoulder as you can safely park. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
