Weather:
Sunny and clear from start to finish, not a single cloud found its way into
view. Alas, there was a dense wall of fog to contend with, limiting
visibility considerably up until the last hour. Warmer, our
September-in-November reasserted itself after a one-day hiatus.
Temperatures reached the mid-50s by mid-afternoon. As for the wind, it was
light and mostly out of the south.
Raptor Observations:
The dreaded northern flight line returned with a vengeance today. Pushed by
the south wind, Red-tailed Hawks started to our north and, after a brief
midday flight, ended even further north, distant specks shrouded in fog.
Activity cratered in the afternoon; squadoosh the last two hours.
Non-raptor Observations:
Horned Lark (20+), American Goldfinch (45+), American Tree Sparrow (1),
Song Sparrow (1), Ruby-crowned Kinglet (2), Golden-crowned Kinglet (2),
Monarch (1)
Predictions:
Partly cloudy with cool temps, extremely strong southwest wind and a 50
percent chance of morning rain.
