Weather:
Clear at the start, clouds moved in by late morning, eventually dousing us
with a brief sprinkle. Temperatures reached the mid 50s and the wind
blustered out of the west, increasing in intensity after noon.

Raptor Observations:
Sharp-shinned Hawks had another big day and our third Golden Eagle of the
season made a midday appearance.

Non-raptor Observations:
Blue Jay (8000+), Red-winged Blackbird (2400+), American Crow (80+), Pine
Siskin (30+), White-throated Sparrow (12), White-crowned Sparrow (1),
Yellow-rumped Warbler (7), American Robin (20+), Tree Swallow (400+),
Northern Rough-winged Swallow (8), Chimney Swift (3), Eastern Bluebird (1),
Tufted Titmouse (1), Monarch (6)

Predictions:
Partly cloudy with cooler temps and moderate northwest wind.

Site Description:
The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River
International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International
Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located
approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan. The location is at the
mouth of the Detroit River as it enters Lake Erie.

Directions to site:
Lake Erie Metropark:
>From I-75, exit at Huron River Drive (exit 27). Continue east on Huron
River Drive. Turn left on West Jefferson and proceed a few hundred yards to
the entrance of Lake Erie Metropark. After paying the entrance fee, follow
the signs to the Boat Launch.
