Hello Fellow Hawksters
I was beginning to think today would never come. Northwest winds, the
conditions considered best for Hawking on the Hill were forecast for the whole
day and you will see that forecast turned out to be accurate for a change and
delivered right on the money. There were 15 of the Faithful on the Hill today
not counting passersby, who still believe in the principle that Northwest winds
bring the migrants. Here is what they got for their efforts:

So they were right. Its been brought to my attention that there have been no
summaries for a while so now that we are caught up here are 2 years of
September. The summaries here for Sept. 2014 vs.2015 seem telling. Except for
the drastic drop in Broadwings for which I believe there is a weather-related
reason. We will not give up trying to find that reason.Meanwhile as we continue
to post daily on the http://hawkcount.org/index.php website our data will come
to you more often and in a more palatable form. While you are at that website,
of course, you can check the diverse hawk watching sites scattered about the
U.S. which will give you the bigger picture. We had 9 Bluebirds hanging about
the Hill today. I never realized before what amusing little characters they
are. There should be more as October wears on. Robins continue to abound and
Blue Jays are still going through.Go you Blue Jays
The High Park Hawk Watch is conducted every day from Sept. 1 through November
unless it rains heavily. Watch for that Northwest wind forecast as it really
brings out the migrants as well as some great birding Characters.Come to Hawk
Hill, right beside the Grenadier Restaurant parking lot in Toronto's High Park.
Bring your camera as well as your bins as the trees are in full colour.
Beautiful sight.
Happy Hawking,Tim Mccarthy
