Observation start time: 06:30:00
Observation end time: 14:45:00
Total observation time: 8.25 hours

Official Counter: Jenna McDermott

Observers: Bob Hall-Brooks, Jim McCoy, Patrick Tomlinson, Steve Wagner

Visitors:
A fellow from Cincinnati came up to the tower, and by chance knew two of
our regular observers who are also from Cincinnati. You never know who
you'll meet on the tower! Ana and Herb (sorry about the spelling) came up
again today and we had a few other local visitors as well.

Weather:
A clear morning with a slight breeze from the North turned into a sky full
of beautiful wispy clouds and a wind (up to 11kph) from the ENE.

Raptor Observations:
The first birds of the day were a few Sharp-shinned Hawks and Northern
Harriers that were far too high in the sky for that time of morning. Things
picked up slowly, with more Sharpies and a few American Kestrels in the
morning. Later on a scattering of Broad-winged Hawks, Red-tails, and Turkey
Vultures crossed more often on the north side of the marsh. A highlight for
the day was a Peregrine Falcon high over the tower that soared by.

Non-raptor Observations:
7 Chimney Swifts, 1 hummingbird, 2 Barn Swallows, 58 Cedar Waxwings and 52
American Goldfinches migrated past the tower throughout the day. Our big
numbers came from Blue Jays again, totalling 14,030. Bob Hall-Brooks had
the chance to bring a few birds that he had banded up to the tower,
including an Eastern Whip-poor-will and some passerines. It was a great
opportunity for our visitors to see them up close! Dragonflies: 3
Twelve-spotted Skimmers, 1 Black Saddlebags, 1 Common Green Darner. 20
Monarchs. See today's eBird list

Predictions:
Fog in the morning, clearing up to a sunny day with temperatures up to 24C.
Winds should come from the east all day.
