Hi all, I left the field after sunset at about 7:15pm. The long-tailed jaeger was the only bird remaining in the field as two peregrines decided to land in the far corner of the field, chasing off the gulls. The peregrines had left the area before I started driving on my way back to Ottawa. I think it fairly likely that the jaeger will be around tomorrow given that it was still in the field when I left. As per Langis' update, the jaeger showed well and was quite visible from Ormond Rd. Highway 31 is quite busy so I would recommend parking off to the side on Ormond Rd.
Good birding, Alex Stone, Ottawa ON. Directions (from Bruce DiLabio's e-mail): there are several ways to get there, one way is to take the 416 south to the Kemptville exit then go east on hwy 43 to Wincester then north on hwy 31. Just after Morewood Dr you will see Forest Hill Rd on the west side of hwy 31. The field with the Jaeger is near that intersection on the east side of 31. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
