Hi everyone.
The Long-tailed Jaeger was still present when I left the site at 6:45 tonight.
It was then beeing viewed from Ormond Rd, just passed the first house, East of
Highway 31 at Harmony. Previously, it put up a great show, chasing gulls
occasionnally, flying low over the field, even coming very close to the road
(31) (perhaps some 20 meters away) and walking in the field towards us as if it
wanted to investigate the sounds of the cameras.
Earlier, a number of Lesser Black-backed Gulls were observed in the field, and
at around 6:30 a large flock of Swallows (perhaps a couple 100), circling over
the field for a minute or 2; they disappeared behind the trees West of Highway
31; the light was not good, but in the flock of presumed mostly Tree Swallows
there appeared to be some Purple Martins and Bank swallows.
Good luck to anyone trying for the Jaeger tomorrow.
