--- Begin Message ---Five birders shrugged off the threat of all day rain and joined me for the outing today. We did well at Colonel Samuel Smith Park as a mini fallout produced 14 species of warbler, 3 vireo species, 3 species of thrush as well as assorted other migrants. We left CSSP with a total of 43 species and made the smart decision to head to Burlington and Hamilton as strong northeast winds were in the forecast. Tollgate ponds and Windemere Basin didn't disappoint as we added Ruddy Turnstone, Stilt Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, and a variety of other shorebirds and waterfowl to our list. We ended the day at Lakland Centre but missed the Parasitic Jaegers which had been seen earlier in the day. We ended the day with 73 species which wasn't too shabby for a day that was forecast to be a total wash out. As always the best sighting was the smiling faces of contented birders.
