Weather:
Besides an immovable bank of cloud suspended above Canada and Celeron
Island, the sky was clear blue until the early evening hours. Hot but not
too humid, temperatures reached the mid 70s by late afternoon. The wind was
light and out of the east.

Raptor Observations:
A second consecutive late day flurry left us glued to our optics. Where
yesterday variety reigned, today volume delighted. American Kestrel and
Sharp-shinned Hawk skittered past by the barrel full, both species often
observed in groups of three or more. After floating by one by one
yesterday, Broad-winged Hawks reverted to their ideal, amassing into large
(but not yet colossal) kettles and orderly streaming out. Juvenile
Red-tailed Hawks made themselves conspicuous, particularly during the
midday hours. And Bald Eagle and Northern Harrier managed to top their
above-average performance from a day ago.

Non-raptor Observations:
Songbird migration was close to non-existent but we did have quite a few
interesting sightings throughout the day, including Red-headed Woodpecker
(1), Common Loon (9), Blue-winged Teal (7), Spotted Sandpiper (1), Northern
Flicker (1), Red-winged Blackbird (25+), Cedar Waxwing (40+), Warbling
Vireo (2), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (11), Common Green Darner (8), Black
Saddlebags (12), Monarch (77).

Predictions:
Overcast with cooler temps, moderate north wind and a 60 percent chance of
rain.
