Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter: Jenna McDermott

Observers: Andy Parsons, Bob Hall-Brooks, Bob Pettit, Claude Radley

Visitors:
Neil visited today along with 4 folks from the local area.

Weather:
Temperatures rose over 29C and a slight breeze came from the SW, S and SE.
There was at times a thin layer of cloud shading the sun, and haze blocked
out most land beyond the marsh.

Raptor Observations:
Another good day considering the weather. Kestrels were the most abundant
raptors migrating, followed by Sharpies. Osprey continue to fly over the
marsh, most not even pausing to hunt. Bald Eagles have been migrating along
the shoreline, while Northern Harriers mostly followed the north side of
the marsh. A huge female Cooper's Hawk circled the tower a few times,
dwarfing a couple of kestrels that were nearby. With all the dragonflies
around, we've been graced with the view of kestrels having a snack on the
wing!

Non-raptor Observations:
Two more immature Red-headed Woodpeckers flew past the tower today! The
marsh contains mostly the usual species, though with a larger amount of
Common Gallinules than usual and now a couple of American Wigeons. Chimney
Swifts were quite abundant with 77. 3 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, 479 Cedar
Waxwings, 121 American Goldfinches and a smattering of Purple Martins, Tree
Swallows, Northern Rough-winged Swallows and Barn Swallows were migrating.
A Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, Common Yellowthroat, and Blackburnian Warbler were
seen around the tower. Dragonflies for the day were: 17 Twelve-spotted
Skimmers, 86 Black Saddlebags, 11 Common Green Darners. 3 Monarchs. For all
today's species see the eBird list

Predictions:
A small chance of showers in the morning with winds from the W and then NW
in the afternoon, hopefully getting a few more birds moving.
