A small group of birders on Saturday birded the Bruce Peninsula and observed
a total of 58 species of birds. In the Ferndale flats area a Brewer's
Blackbird was photographed along the side of Hwy 6. At Dyers's Bay the
waters of Georgian Bay contained Common Loons and good numbers of Red-necked
Grebes. At Cabot Head the waters of Georgian Bay were covered with floating
pack ice - some a deep blue colour (providing great photographic
opportunities). Along the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment in the afternoon
there was a passage of raptors including Bald Eagle, Red-shouldered Hawk,
Sharp-shinned Hawk and Peregrine Falcon, along with resident Bald Eagles.
Sandhill Cranes were heard calling at many different locations - in the
wetland at the Issac Lake Wildlife area in one view there were two Great
Egrets, one Great Blue Heron and five Sandhill Cranes,
