A Grey adult Ruffed Grouse has been seen last night and again this morning. The last E-bird noted sighting in the area was May 2014.
The bird is walking back and forth along a fence line separating the neighbourhood and the Conservation area. Directions: 401 to Whitby, same route as going to Lynde Shores Conservation area, once on Bailey, go east of Lynde Shores, and turn south on Seabord Gate. Turn right at Whitby Shores Greenway, and follow it to the catchment pond at #250. The grouse has been observed along the bicycle trail to the right of the catchment pond, about 50 yards north of Portage Trail. Photos have been taken but are of only modest quality, due to the bird’s colouring.
