--- Begin Message ---I went over to the park to look for the Cliff Swallow posted on e.bird by Iain Fleming this morning and had no trouble finding it perched in tree near the bridge west of the marina headquarters. It eventually flew out to the lake where it joined about 30 swallows feeding over the waters of Lake Ontario. I heard a lot Red-necked Grebes calling from various locations, so I decide to scope the entire lake for an hour and ended with a total of 1529. There were large strings of swimming birds off to the east of Whimbrel Point which I could not identify, but probably at least some these also Red-necked Grebes. I would encourage others to take their scopes down there and get some complete counts of Red-necked Grebes. I did not see any more swallows while I was counting Red-necked Grebes. This is about two weeks early for the peak. I also had an American Pipit fly north over the peninsula calling at about 50 meters high.Directions: South off Kipling and south of Lakeshore Boulevard.
