One of the problems that we must consider is that the residents have been feeding these special birds and keeping them alive in this harsh environment. If we cause them to stop feeding because of our rude and inconsiderate actions, we will cause the death of the birds. Aren't we bird lovers!!! I witnessed such behaviour near the Painted Bunting where a photographer/birder after more than 3 hours refused to leave the side of the property when the owner asked him to allow others a chance. As a member of the same club and a photographer/ birder, I was appalled by his attitude. Some of the strife arises when large numbers of watchers flock in to see an unusual bird as we had with the Hooded Warbler some years back - over 100 birders in about 3 days. I believe we need someone to spend an evening at our Naturalists club meetings reviewing the rules and ethics. Most of this is common sense but some people lack that. Birding is such a joy and it is a shame that we have this blight on our record.
