Birders,

It's getting close to that time of the year again when we turn our thoughts
to winter listing and all of the fun and excitement that can come with it.
With that in mind, Lisa Teskey and I did some scouting this morning, at
what seems to be a yearly hotspot for winter warblers, Sedgewick Park in
Oakville.

4 species of warbler were seen this morning. These were the expected
Yellow-rumped Warbler (6-8), and also Nashville Warbler (1), Orange-crowned
Warbler (1), and Pine Warbler (1).

Other notable passerines that were present and would make notable winter
list birds include:

Ruby-crowned Kinglet (1)
Fox Sparrow (3) - A good count for this date
Winter Wren- 2

This location is most productive on cold snaps as it concentrates the
birds. Things can change here daily so frequent checks should be made and
reported on.

Photos of the birds were obtained though one must have patience as the
warblers are quite skulky in goldenrods.

>From Hamilton, take the QEW Toronto, exit at third line and head south
towards lake Ontario. When you reach Hixon, turn left and take it to its
terminus. Park, walk through the forest till you reach a hill where there
is an underground pipe, follow the hill south to the water treatment plant,
you should start seeing these pigs!
