Raptor Observations: Not a whole lot of volume but some OK variety, complete with a brief midday spurt of Redtails out past the stacks, a quick glimpse at a boisterous Merlin darting into the Sycamore and a few close harriers to ponder. Non-raptor Observations: Common Loon (8), Horned Grebe (35+), Pied-billed Grebe (1), Hooded Merganser (6), Red-breasted Merganser (14), Gadwall (2), Bufflehead (3), Ruddy Duck (9), Great Black-backed Gull (1), Bonaparte's Gull (20+), Brown Creeper (1), Horned Lark (15+), Pine Siskin (80+), European Starling (200+), American Crow (130+) Predictions: Partly cloudy with warmer temps and moderate southeast wind. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan. The location is at the mouth of the Detroit River as it enters Lake Erie. Directions to site: Lake Erie Metropark: >From I-75, exit at Huron River Drive (exit 27). Continue east on Huron River Drive. Turn left on West Jefferson and proceed a few hundred yards to the entrance of Lake Erie Metropark.
