My girlfriend, Lillian and I toured the island today (we had taken the 6pm ferry on Saturday). Among 76 species, the highlights are listed below:
Purple Sandpiper - 1 bird with a flock of 11 Sanderling at the tip of Fish Point Clay-colored Sparrow - 1 bird with a flock of Chipping Sparrows at the north end, near Scudder; remarkably Rob Tymstra had found another bird at his place earlier in the day. Magnolia Warbler - 1 first-basic at Fish Point in an abandoned lot, moving with a flock of Kinglets. White-winged Scoter - 1 bird at Fish Point (rare-ish on the island) Black Scoter - 3 birds at Middle Point (also rare-ish on the island) Click the link below to see our complete checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S20418106 Lillian Knopf and Ken Burrell [email protected] http://burrellbirding.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
