This afternoon Harald Scholz and I enjoyed great diversity of birdlife at West 
Perth Wetlands.  There were 17 Tundra Swan, 200+ Canada Geese and 1 Cackling 
Goose, 3 Gadwall, 20 black, 300+ Mallard, 20 Northern Pintail, 100+ Northern 
Shoveler, 40 Green-wing Teal, 5 American Wigeon, 6 Lesser Scaup, 2 Bufflehead, 
3 Redhead, 1 Long-tailed Duck, 1 Hooded Merganser and 20 Ruddy Duck.  About 40 
American Coot were foraging as well. 
 
For shorebirds we found 3 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, 3 Pectoral 
Sandpiper, 5 Dunlin, 7 Wilson's Snipe and a peep, likely a Least.

West Perth Wetlands are in Mitchell, about 20 km NW of Stratford.  From Ontario 
St (Hwy 8) take Wellington St south to Frank St.  Cross over and follow the 
gravel to the parking lot.
