The wind was moderate and out of the west. Raptor Observations: Clouds of Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks tried to make up for our lack of the real thing today. From the late morning on, both species were up and as active as they've been all season, floating past by the dozen, mostly very high. Some lingering Turkey Vultures mixed in with them. And, oh yeah, how could I forget? Plenty of eagles as well, of both the Golden and Bald variety. Non-raptor Observations: Tundra Swan (40+), Pine Siskin (30+), American Crow (800+) Predictions: Partly cloudy with warm temps and light south wind. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
