The juvenile Black-legged Kittiwake first suspected by Dave Lord on Oct.16, and confirmed by Brennan Obermayer yesterday Oct.17, was still present this morning around between 8:05 and 8:20 am, in the Barrie Marina?.
Burke Korol and I watched the bird hover around the marina diving repeatedly, for roughly 15 minutes, before we lost sight of the bird as it possibly flew out into the bay to join the hundreds of Bonaparte's Gull and several Little Gull. I believe this is the first record of this species for Simcoe County. Directions: Exit Highway 400 at Dunlop St W and head East until you reach Toronto St. Turn right on Toronto St. and follow it south until you reach the Barrie Marina. Good birding, Dave Szmyr _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
