Apologies for the somewhat late post, but my phone died and I had to get wait until I got home to plug it in.
Around noon today, I found a Le Conte's Sparrow in the overgrown field directly east of where Hwy. 50 meets Gore Rd. Not sure if that is technically Brampton or Toronto. The bird flushed from a few yards in front of me, flew about 10 yards, then plopped low onto a weedy plant. I got decent looks at it for maybe 15-20 seconds before it dropped out of sight. Directions - at the stoplights on the east side of where Hwy 50 meets Gore Road, there are two brick walls (gates?) with a couple of smashed and in tact globes on top of them. There are several large concrete highway dividers between the walls. A large scrubby field is beyond the bricks gates/walls. Walk in between these brick gates/walls and then about 100m east-southeast through a weedy field (stay to the right of what appears to be an abandoned haul road) toward a thick stand of phragmites near a modest upslope; be aware that there are several small stands of phragmites in the general area. The bird was in the weedy field relatively close to the thickest phragmites stand near the modest upslope. As another landmark, there are numerous large piles of weed-covered construction rubble about 50m due north of the spot where I found the bird.
