There is still good shorebird habitat at the West Perth Wetlands as of today.
Dropped in from 4 to 5 pm. Nothing unusual, but here is the list. About 60 Lesser Yellowlegs, 10 Greater Yellowlegs, 2 Semi-palmated Sandpiper, 1 Least Sandpiper, 20 Pectoral Sandpipers, 2 Wilson Snipe, 10 Killdeer, almost all in the muddy lagoon, immediately west of the actual sewage treatment plant. So still worth checking out these wetlands. In the surrounding ponds with rather full water, there were many ducks. I did a quick scan and wrote down what I noted but there could be more of each species...found most were mallards, probably over 500. Some Black Duck(10), a few Wood Duck (2), Pintail (6), Blue-winged Teal (2), many Northern Shoveller (30+), Green-winged Teal (40+). I saw only about 100 Canada Geese hanging about but many were out of sight near the Sewage Plant.
