Birders,

I realize that posting anything but Greater White-fronted Geese during the
weekend of the OFO conference is a bit taboo, but I figured I'd break the
rules a bit to advise of some Black Vultures seen today in the Niagara
area, specifically Queenston Heights.
Near noon, Lisa Teskey and I had 5 of these birds from the Locust Grove
Picnic Area. Three of the birds were flying down the river, then headed
over New York State, the other 2 were atop a light standard located along
the river gorge.

I realize these birds seem to be year round residents, but I still know
birders needing this species for their Ontario list! So what are you
waiting for!?

The Locust Grove Picnic Area is in Queenston and can be accessed by taking
the QEW Niagara, then taking the 405 Niagara on The Lake. Exit at Stanley
Blvd, turn left and then right on Portage Ave until its end where you will
go right and quickly turn left into the picnic area located at the traffic
circle. Park and walk to the fenceline and watch the vultures.
