Observation start time: 06:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 10 hours

Official Counter: Todd Pepper

Observers: Carol Pitts, Ed Pitts, Janina Radley, Jenna McDermott,
Jim McCoy, Olga Klekner, Patrick Tomlinson, Steve Wagner

Visitors:
Our 4 annual visitors (and official observers) from Ohio were back today; 3
visitors from Michigan spent most of the day on the tower, as did Neal and
Nancy from Windsor. Another couple from Windsor spent 2 hours on the tower.

Weather:
A mostly sunny day with temperatures ranging from 11 - 21C; winds mostly
out of the North in the 10 - 12 km/hr range until the lake effect kicked in
and the ground level wind was from the South.

Raptor Observations:
A good day with 12,111 birds counted of 14 species. It was the first big
Broad-winged Hawk day with just over 11,800 birds. Also the first Golden
Eagles of the year with 4 seen all within 10 minutes. Also the first
Swainson's Hawk for the year.

Non-raptor Observations:
Our eyes were pointed high in the sky today and non-raptor was not our
priority, however it was a generally light migration day with 188 birds of
16 species. Highlights were a Common Nighthawk in the mid-afternoon, and a
flock of 21 Pectoral Sandpipers in the early morning. A Large Brown Bat was
observed in migration as soon as the count opened for the day.

Predictions:
A repeat of today with temperatures from 10 - 20C, winds slightly more
westerly at 10 km/hr and sunny.
