The hard rain held off until later in the evening but the overcast skies stuck around for the duration of the watch. The wind was light and mostly out of the southwest. Raptor Observations: Three falcons passed by close today, one of each species. We got great looks at both the Merlin and the peregrine, enlivening what was a mostly quiet affair. Non-raptor Observations: Red-winged Blackbird (60+), Blue-winged Teal (1), American Wigeon (2), Wood Duck (1), Chimney Swift (20+) Predictions: Partly cloudy with moderate west winds. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
