Hi, everyone - I just got back from a neighbour's house where a male Dickcissel was at a feeder. The owner (Doreen Little) said it was first seen late yesterday afternoon, and it has been coming frequently today, staying for 5 or 10 minutes and then disappearing for an hour or two. I waited from 5:00 to 5:50 pm today and it did not show; as I walked in the door at home the phone rang - it was Doreen saying it had reappeared, so I dashed over and found it just after 6:00 pm.
Directions: >From Port Hope, go north on County Road (formerly Hwy.) 28 about 8 km north of >Hwy. 401. Turn east on Hamilton Township 6th Line (also known as Vimy Ridge >Road). Go east 3 km to Little Road and turn north. Go 1.7 km north to 4394 >Little Road (west side of the road). The bird was at the feeder which can be >seen from the east side of the road. Doreen says you are welcome to go and sit >on their porch to wait if you wish. >From Peterborough, come south on CR 28 to Bewdley and carry on a little >further south (County Road 9, which has the traffic lights just south of >Bewdley, is about 4 km north of Vimy Ridge Road), turn east and carry on as >above.
