Point Pelee National Park Migration Report: Sunday, 4 May Greetings folks,
A significant influx of birds this morning was punctuated by 2 HENSLOW'S SPARROWS -- both observed during Friends of Point Pelee guided walks. One was showing well on the West Beach Trail 300 m north of the Tip tram loop. The other was also showing well just south of the solar panel on the west side of the Tip. 21 warblers species have been reported so far today. 2 male HOODED WARBLERS offered great looks on the west side of the tip near to a male BLUE-WINGED WARBLER. A third Hooded was also sighted on the Redbud Footpath off Woodland Nature Trail. Some observers got brief looks at a female CERULEAN WARBLER at the tip. Also on Woodland Nature Trail was a "BREWSTER'S WARBLER". The YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT that was first reported yesterday was seen again today at the same location -- the brush piles in the newly cleared area of Chinquapin Oak Trail. Other notable sightings include an ACADIAN FLYCATCHER on the north part of Tilden Wood Trail; a WHITE-EYED VIREO at the Tip; 4 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS at the Tip; a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER at DeLaurier; and an EARED GREBE off the Tip. Outside the Park, 3 SMITH'S LONGSPURS persist on Road 21 north of Concession 2.
