Currently we have a number of significant local and provincial species that are being reported multiple times. This is good. However, the focus of an Ontbird post should be to supply information useful to others attempting to relocate the reported bird. The fact that a bird is lingering is important but if you are only able to state that the bird is present maybe your post is unnecessary.

We need to receive reports in a timely manner but we also need information and directions that give readers a chance to relocate the bird. Read your post before you send and ask yourself if it is complete enough to be helpful.

In summary Ontbirds has posting guidelines, a link to our guidelines is at the bottom of every post. Our guidelines are quite simple, we ask for species and locations (found on a provincial road map) in the subject line, in the message body itself we are looking for directions as well as complete species names (short-forms or banding codes are not appreciated).
