Today is the first day of the Point Pelee National Park Festival of Birds and
the start of the guided bird hikes offered by the Friends of Point Pelee. Cool
temperatures and strong westerly winds continue to affect migration.

An EARED GREBE was close to shore along the east side of the Tip near the 42nd
parallel sign. An uncommon HAIRY WOODPECKER was heard and seen on the east side
of the Woodland Trail. EASTERN PHOEBE AND EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE were in the area
of the Sparrow Field. WARBLING and BLUE-HEADED VIREOS were in the Tip Area and
a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO was reported from the north end of the Woodland Trail.
On the warbler front there was BLACK-AND-WHITE, NASHVILLE, MAGNOLIA, YELLOW,
PALM, PINE, and YELLOW-RUMPED in the Tip area and the YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER
is still being seen along the east side of the Woodland Trail.

A beautiful plumaged CLAY-COLORED SPARROW is showing well along the east side
of the Tip between the 42nd parallel sign and the first trail down to the
beach.
