Subject: Red-necked Grebes St. Clair River
Some RED-NECKED GREBES are still on the St. Clair River at Cathcart Park.
At least one has been there for some time, but four (4) were visible today.
Three to the south of the park, and one at the north end. They are almost
in full breeding plumage.
Two HORNED GREBES were also present this afternoon.
I only went as far north as Cathcart Park this afternoon, so more are likely
out there.
Duck-watching is very good right now, and there are thousands of ducks along
the river for those who want to sort through them!
Directions to Sombra and St. Clair River: Find Hwy 40 that runs N/S between
Wallaceburg and Sarnia. Turn west on Lambton Rd. 2 (Bentpath Line) and take
to Sombra on the St. Clair River. Fawn Island is just to the south of the
village. The St. Clair Parkway (Rd. 33) follows the river along its length.
Cathcart Park is a few kilometres north of Sombra and well-marked.
