A Great Blue Heron continues to successfully overwinter on small open water areas of Morningside Creek near Staines Pond. 6 Red-breasted Mergansers landed briefly on Staines Pond today, the first record I've had on the pond (Common Mergansers are regular in winter, and Hooded Mergansers not unusual in migration).
Staines Pond is SE of the intersection of Staines Road and Morningside Ave. in Scarborough, ON Mark Kubisz Scarborough, ON _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
