A Great Blue Heron continues to successfully overwinter on small open water 
areas of Morningside Creek near Staines Pond. 6 Red-breasted Mergansers landed 
briefly on Staines Pond today, the first record I've had on the pond (Common 
Mergansers are regular in winter, and Hooded Mergansers not unusual in 
migration).

Staines Pond is SE of the intersection of Staines Road and Morningside Ave. in 
Scarborough, ON
