At 10:00 pm this evening (Jan. 15) an Eastern Screech Owl was present in Keats Way Woods in Waterloo at the junction of the main east-west path and the side-trail to Churchill street. I first heard it calling repeatedly and then saw it with flashlight and binoculars on a branch high in a conifer, near the trunk. It stayed there for 15-20 minutes before flying to another perch but not leaving the area (it could still be heard calling).
Keats Way Woods is located on the south side of Keats Way between University Ave. and Fischer-Hallman Rd. in Waterloo. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
