Weather: Blustery NW winds. Variable cloud and below freezing temperatures. Raptor Observations: Not much moving today. The highlight was a Golden Eagle at eye level to the north. Non-raptor Observations: Few ducks were evident with the marsh now frozen over. A sedge of 27 Sandhill Cranes circled the marsh before heading west. 2 more Sandhills past later in the day. 38 Americam Crows struggled west. Small groups of American Goldfinch totalling 43 birds were the only other non-raptors noted migrating. Predictions: Less wind than today backing from West to Southwest. Cool, with temperatures in the minus single digits.
