A White Pelican was seen today by Paul Mackenzie, Bud Rowe and I on the
Napanee River (between Belleville and Kingston). Thanks to Terry Sprague for
alerting us. The bird is hanging out with 40-50 Mute Swans and a handful of
Tundra Swans. If you find the swans, scan the flock carefully - it is most
likely with them.

Directions: Napanee is south of the 401 (take junction/km 579). We viewed
the bird from two locations - either take Hwy 7 west out of Napanee or cross
the river and then take Hwy 9 west. On Hwy 9, the bird can be seen from the
south shore of the river just before (east of) Fitchett Road; from the
northern shore on Hwy 7, it can be seen just east of Oliver Side Road at a
farm/barn lay-by next to (west of) a big house with a long driveway to the
waterfront. There appears to be no public access to the waterfront but from
these locations adequate 'scope views can be obtained. These are the
co-ordinates of the flock: 44.197036,-77.003027.

Regards,

Mark.
