17.11.13 - Noon - among a flock of 2000 Mallards within which other species
could easily be identified such as Black Ducks there appeared a male
MottledDuck. It showed a yellow bill with a black dot at the gape and a buffy
neck andface with a black eye-stripe and darkish cap. Unlike the Black Ducks It
had along-necked appearance as if looking for its like in the mob - this
behaviourcatching my eye.
Also on Friday a male Mallard/Pintail cross was seen distinguished by a
whitecravat instead of a neck-ring while it also sported peculiar spiral tail
feathers.
Reesor Pond lies just north of Hwy 407 on Reesor Road in Markham - cheers-
Stan Long
