Erwin and Annie Meissner of Massey saw a Northern Hawk Owl on Manitoulin
Island about 2:30 p.m. today. It was perched on the wires along Highway 540
about 1 km west of Kagawong east of Gore Bay. Perhaps an indicator that this
species is on the move. Small mammal numbers are low in many areas of
northeastern Ontario. They also saw Pectoral Sandpipers, three Rough-legged
Hawks and a Northern Shrike on Manitoulin.

For more information call Erwin at (705) 865-1970.
