Greetings fellow birders:
An adult Buff breasted sandpiper was observed yesterday around 3:00 pm at the
Aylmer National Wildlife Area (NWA) on the north side of the pond. It was
weaving in and out of the vegetation on the edge along with Killdeer. Also
present at the pond was Northern shoveler, Great blue heron, Mallard, Canada
geese and 2 Bald eagle (reported by another birder).
To get to the National Wildlife Area take Highway #73, also known as Elgin Road
south from Highway #401 through the towns of Harrietsville and Lyons to College
Line. Turn left, heading east to Hacienda Side Road, or Road 32. Turn right,
heading south until you reach the Aylmer Police College (large orange brick
building on east side). One laneway past the entrance to the Police College is
the entrance to the NWA. Drive to the back where the view stand is.
Good birding!Dave JollyEARTHQUEST (Canada) for the
