Hi all.

A juvenile Sharp-tailed Sandpiper has been present at Baie-du-Febvre, Québec, since at least Tuesday, September 25. It was found in late afternoon Tuesday by a birder who could not be certain and confirmed the next day.

The bird is in a sewage lagoon which has been drained and cleaned very recently, offering excellent habitat for shorebirds (at least 12 species were found on Wednesday and yesterday, including this bird, Long-billed Dowitcher, American Golden Plover and Baird's Sandpiper).

The bird was still present this morning, September 27, at least until noon, but a birder who left the scene around noon just reported that an employee had reopened the walves to fill the lagoon. Present birders spoked to him to ask that filling be stopped for the week-end so that birders who were planning to visit could have a chance to see the bird.

I will checked incoming emails and post new information if any later to-day. Tomorow morning, I will post new information as soon as it is posted on the Québec forum *ornitho-qc.*

Directions: Baie-du-Febvre is about 1-1/4 hour drive East of Montréal, on road 132. From the Ontario border take either highway 40 or highway 20 and continue on highway 40 then highway 20 towards Québec city (to avoid going through the busy Boulevard Metropolitain on highway 40, take the recently opened highway 30 at the junction of highways 40 and 20 - it may be a bit longer, but much less busy). At about Drummondville exit at road 255 and go North on 255 until you reach Baie-du-Febvre on road 132, turn left on road 132 and right on Rue Janelle about 1/2 lilometre West of road 255.

Good luck if you go.
