A Black-backed Woodpecker was seen and photographed yesterday, Thursday September19th just before 1pm at Britannia Conservation Area ( Mud Lake). It was seen from the gravel path that leads from Cassel's Road into Britannia Woods a short distance from Cassel's Road at the point where the path makes a horseshoe loop to avoid a low lying wet area. Two photos were posted to ebird and my flicker site. Directions: Britannia CA ( Mud Lake) is located adjacent to the Ottawa River in the west end of Ottawa. >From Carling Avenue take Britannia Road north to Cassel's Road.
