Hey Folks.

A bit of a bizarre sighting this morning for those who don't mind looking
at "questionable" birds.

I was pishing at some chickadees this morning at Kortright near the
entrance to the Marsh Boardwalk when in with the warblers comes a Layard's
(North African ssp. nigriceps) Village Weaver. Here is a picture:

An undoubted escapee, but whoever let this beast go must've had deep
pockets (or sketchy connections) as I've never seen or heard of these in
aviculture. It was unbanded, too. A neat bird!

In other news, lots of warblers about with 16 species including several
Cape Mays and Bay-breasteds.

The Kortright Centre is located on Pine Valley Drive, 3 Km west of Highway
400, North of Rutherford and south of Major Mackenzie Road. Maps can be
found at the Visitor Centre. There is an entry fee. The Marsh Boardwalk
trail is closed but you can walk it to the entrance of the boardwalk, which
was destroyed earlier this year due to flooding.

Cheers!

Lev
