Last evening a brief stop at the southwest pond at the Almonte Sewage Ponds
produced 84 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Stilt Sandpiper, and
1 Red-necked Phalarope. Additionally, a Peregrine Falcon made a brief
appearance.

Directions: The lagoons can only be accessed from the Mississippi Valley
Field Naturalists¹ Trail. From Highway 417, drive south on March Road and
continue through Almonte (Mississippi Mills) to Highway 29. Continue through
the lights south on Wolf Grove Road. If coming from other locations, take
Highway 29 to Mississippi Mills (Almonte) and turn south on Wolf Grove Road.
>From Wolf Grove Road turn right (west) at the Auld Kirk Church on Ramsay
Concession 8. About half a km from the intersection you will find the small
sign for the trail on your right. A lookout tower provides a terrific view
of the pond and afternoon provides the best lighting for viewing.

Good birding!
