Thanks to Dan Greenham for putting in 6 hours on the tower with me today Weather: Light rain in a.m. then clear and sunny; wind out of N, NW, or WNW from calm to 19km/hr; steady barometric pressure Raptor Observations: Sixty-six birds of 7 species. The highlight of the day is when all 5 resident Bald Eagles and 8 migrant Bald Eagles were all in the air over the tower at the same time. Non-raptor Observations: The resident birds included: 99 Mute Swan; 6 Pied-billed Grebe; 50 Double-crested Cormorant; 4 Great Blue Heron; 5 each of Great Egret and Black-crowned Night Heron and the same Common Gallinule as reported Yesterday. Migrants included: 4 each of both species of Yellowlegs; 2 Caspian Tern; 11 Morning Dove; 11 Chimney Swift; 4 Ruby-throated Hummingbird; 1 Northern Flicker; 1 Yellow-bellied Flycatcher; 37 Purple Martin; 30 Tree Swallow; 10 Northern Roughwing Swallow; 12 Barn Swallow; 1 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher; 58 Cedar Waxwing; 5 Black-and-white Warbler; 1 Baltimore Oriole; 34 House Finch; and 16 American Goldfinch.
