This evening until dark there was a flock of 14 adult Golden Plovers and 1 Long-billed Dowitcher at the corner of Twin Elm Rd and Barnsdale Rd. south-west of Ottawa. The Dowitcher was loosely associating with the Plovers but preferred the wetter parts of the field and was difficult to see.
They were in a cut wheat field with standing water north of the Twin Elm Rugby Park. Directions: From Hwy 416 take the Bankfield/Brophy Side Rd exit west on Brophy two miles to Twin Elm Rd. Turn right, north on Twin Elm. Barnsdale is the next intersection just past the Rugby Fields. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
